Gummy Blasters postmortem
Gummy Blasters » Devlog
I'm really proud of this project! I had a moment when I was making the tutorial where I was like "yesss this game is actually coming together". I don't think I will continue updating this game unless there was a lot of interest.
Here is what I learned:
- Limit scope more. I originally was a lot more ambitious but I decided to make things as simple and dumb as possible. Especially with UI. Instead of having any UI, I just put the tutorial as a sprite on the ground lol. Because of this, I feel like I was able to get a good game out in time
- I need to up my visuals game. I really am bad at sprite art and shaders. If I spent some time working on my visuals, it would really go a long way in getting more players
- These kind of games require special performance tweaks that I havent learned yet. I found this tutorial but I havent implemented it. If Im going to continue making games with 1000's of nodes, I should look into performance tweaks like that
